Court dismisses Ashantigold case against GFA, Premier League cleared to resume
An Accra High Court has dismissed the injunction application by Ashantigold SC against the GFA, paving way for the league to resume.
The Ghana Football Association has been cleared by the Accra High Court to resume the suspended betPawa Premier League.
This follows the dismissal of the application for injunction of the league by former Premier League side Obuasi Ashantigold SC.
Ashantigold took the GFA to court and secured a temporary suspension of the league in a bid to challenge its demotion to Division 2 together with Inter Allies FC after both clubs were found guilty of match fixing in the 2020/21 league season.
The court’s decision could prove brutal for the former Premier League champions who may face stiffer sanctions for disrupting the league season. Many people have called for lifetime ban for the executives of the club and the total ban of the club from all football related activities, a move that would mean the end of the club’s life in football.
