Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol both ready for victory ahead of their May 7 bout
Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol are gearing up for their clash on May 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada for the WBA(super) light-weight title held by Bivol. Bivol will be making his fourth defence of the strap while Canelo, a four-weight division champion will be seeking to add his name to the history books by annexing the title.
At their final press conference, both boxers made their statement of intent clear and as well spoke about their chances.
Canelo said of his opponent, “He is a good champion a great fighter, we train for a great fighter, he has many skills, in a solid champion at 17,” adding, “But I’m ready I believe in my skills and how strong I am.
“I beat everyone at 168 I’m fine at that weight. I want another challenge for myself, not just to make history. At 175 pounds I have a chance to win another title it’s awesome for me,” the Mexican stated.
Bivol on the other hand said: “I am very grateful to have this opportunity I asked for it many years ago to my team, I have always wanted to face the best in the world thanks to my promoters”.
“To be honest every time I go to the ring I always think I’m going to win, if you don’t think like that you’re never going to win, why not? Now I have a belt in 19 fights, I’m the champion why am I not going to win.
