Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko look set for a showdown with the Ghana Football Association over the live telecast of their Ghana Premier League games.
The Kumasi-based side have planned to officially notify the Ghana Football Association, the Ghana Premier League’s management body, about their displeasure with their share of the TV sponsorship from Chinese TV giants StarTimes, according to Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM/TV.
According to the details the Kotoko management feel cheated by the GFA for how much they earn from the TV sponsorship.
StarTimes have paid USD10,000 across board to all Premier League clubs but Kotoko feel cheated as most of their games as covered by the Chinese outlet.
Kotoko want the Ghanaian football governing body to give them a lion’s share of the money since they provide more content for StarTimes than any other team in the league.
According to inside sources, the club is ready to block StarTimes from covering any of their games if the GFA fails to reason with them.
Meanwhile it is understood that the club has contacted officials of their counterparts Accra Hearts of Oak to join them in the crusade to earn a bigger chunk of the money earned from the sponsorship.
