Former Ghana Premier League side Bolga All Stars have finally secured maximum points from a match in the ongoing Ghana Division One League, Zone 1. The Bolgatanga-based side beat Baffour Soccer Academy 3-2 at Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale to secure their first win.

Following defeats to Wa Yasin, Kintampo FC and Dreams Tamale, the only Upper East Region representative in the nation’s second-tier club competition earned a point against Young Apostles on matchday four.

But after that rare gallant display by their backline to shut down all goal options from Young Apostles which ensured they earned their first clean sheet and point of the season, they suffered another heavy defeat the following week but this time to Nkoranza Warriors SC, a side that was originally Bolga All Stars but rebranded after the squad was sold following their demotion from the Premier League following after the 2016/17 league season.

However, today, the team was able to make its high-scoring count by putting more in their opponents net than their porous backline was able to concede. That singular meanest by their defence enabled them to bag all three points against the Academy Boys.

Baffour Soccer Academy drew first blood in the 9th-minute of the game through Mohammed Issahaku but that lead only lasted for 10 minutes before Dennis Nyaaba equalized for All Stars. Nyaaba added his second with three minutes to the half-hour mark to give put All Stars in the lead for the first time in the match, one they preserved into the break.

A second-half goal from each team was added to make it a 3-2 result in Tamale, that was also enough to see the former top-flight side earn their first win in the competition as they hope to boost their chances of survival. The club made a return to the division one league just this season after five years in their lower leagues.

The club will face Bofoakwa Tano FC in their next match in the league.
