Bechem United humbles Porcupine Warriors
Bechem United have halted Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s excellent form in the Ghana Premier League with a humbling 2-0 victory over the Porcupine Warriors.
Kotoko who had beaten city rivals King Faisal over the weekend went into the week two outstanding clash against the Hunters who also secured their first win of the season with a lone goal win over Kotoku Royals and came out as the wounded side.
Kofi Agbesimah broke the deadlock in the 24th minute from the penalty spot when a Kotoko player handled the ball in the box from a Bechem United free-kick. Agbesimah went for a power drive that was beyond the reach of Danlad Ibrahim.
The Hunters doubled their lead in the second half after a fine interplay between Emmanuel Avornyo and Clinton Duodu resulted in the former leaving Danlad picking the ball from his net for the second time in the game.
Stephen Amankonah was given a red card after receiving a second yellow card in the game.
Kotoko dropped to sixth on the table with seven points, the same as fifth-placed Nsoatreman. However, Bechem United have moved to eighth on the log, just a point less than Kotoko.
Seydou Zerbo’s men will next be in action on Sunday when they Samartex at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium while the Hunters will make a trip away from home to face Karela United.
