Antonio Conte to Tottenham, what it means to The Lilywhites
Rumours become realities as wars are reduced to battles. Manchester United might have just won the battle, but The Lilywhites won the war.
Tottenham have taken the lead to hire former Chelsea FC manager Antonio Conte at the expense of Manchester United who was plotting for the renowned Manager’s signature should the Red Devils had lost to Tottenham on Sunday.
Although Conte has been a long time admirer of Ole’s job, the decision by the Manchester United board to give Ole Gunner Solskjaer more time will mean the Italian will waste no time to welcome The Lilywhites quest to have him as their manager.
A dismal 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United proved to be Nuno’s last outing as Spurs boss, with Daniel Levy ‘furious’ at his side’s performance.
Indeed, sporting director Fabio Paratici was believed to be the driving force in the Portuguese’s appointment, with Levy holding out for a more attacking coach.
The decision to hire Nuno now seems to have backfired, with Levy’s axe calling time on a four-month stint at the helm which stretched just ten Premier League games.
Five of those were defeats, with stars like Harry Kane and Heung-min Son struggling to make an impact on this campaign under Nuno’s philosophy.
Antonio Conte has already arrived in London and will meet with Tottenham later today. The former Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan head coach has been offered an 18-month contract to succeed the sacked Nuno Espirito Santo in the Spurs dugout.
It is no news a lot of Tottenham fans would be delighted with Conte putting into consideration the fact that he is a first-class manager and a serial winner, who already got a good record with Chelsea and Inter Milan, hence, knows the game inside out.
Interestingly, he has worked with Tottenham’s director of football (Fabio Paratici) before at Juventus, so that is important as that will build mutual correlations between management and the players.
