Ghana: Election Day

Pollster and Managing editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Mr Ben Ephson has advised that starting the campaign train towards election 2024 now is a bit too early.

The possibility of exhaustion will definitely catch up with them the pollster indicated.

Mr Ephsons raised these concerns while commenting on the recent declaration made by former president John Dramani Mahama that election 2024 is going to be a do or die affair at the polling stations. Citing that his party, the National Democratic Congress has drawn some lessons from the 2020 elections.

Also during an interview on Techiman-based Akina FM on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, on his “Thank you” tour former president Mahama accused President Akufo-Addo of making elections life and death for him by enrolling members of delta and invisible forces into security agencies.

He then alleged how these vigilante groups have allegedly infiltrated the security agencies and cited examples with what happened in Techiman South and hoped that such scenes will not occur again.

He then added that the NDC had learnt its lesson that the 2024 polls will be won or lost at the polling station.

Mr Ben Ephson commenting on the statements of the former president advised that for any party there is the need to train about 50,000 educated loyalists to be at polling stations for you and urged parties to be serious in their selection of polling agents.

He added that Mr John Mahama is appealing to the base of the party since the 2020 elections were very closely contested.

The pollster also thinks it is too early for politicians to do any serious campaign ahead of election 2024 since there is still about three years and four months to go. he feels fatigue will set in if any one started off now.
