We won’t support Minority to remove Ken Ofori-Atta – NPP lawmaker
A member of the Majority group in Parliament has stated that the caucus won’t support the NDC to remove Ken Ofori-Atta from Parliament.
Member of Parliament for Subin Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi has told the Minority side to not hope to get the Majority’s support to remove Ken Ofori-Atta from office.
He explained that they as legislators are simply appealing to President Akufo-Addo.
During an interview on Citi FM, the legislator said “I don’t think we are going to support the NDC to remove our Minister. We have just made a separate call to the President of Ghana”.
“We are on a different tangent; not the same as the NDC. They are going through a censure motion,” he explained.
To him, the stance the 80 members of parliament took was to reflect their objective nature with which they look at the economic situation and how they view the performance of the Finance Ministry.
He insisted that they have shown Ghanaians that it is not the Minority that is seeking his removal but the Majority that’s demanding his removal due to his performance.
On the replacement for Mr Ofori-Atta, Mr Antwi indicated that a fellow legislator would be preferable. He stressed the need for a competent Finance Minister who is willing to work with the MPs.
