Brother of the Minister for Food and Agriculture Dr. Akoto Afriyie Akwasi A. Afrifa Akoto has said that the reason why Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not getting the needed support for his Presidential bid is the fact that people don’t want Gabby Asare Octhere-Darko to be in control of the government.
His comment comes on the back of a post shared by Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko on why Cabinet Ministers should resign if they intend to promote their agenda of becoming President rather than focusing on the President’s transformational agenda.
To him, most top people in the NPP are not pleased with the control Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has over the Presidency and are of the believe that a vote for Bawumia is a vote for more years of Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko’s control of the Presidency.
He said “Some people are hesitant to support Bawumia’s bid because they feel uneasy by the prospects of the Prime Minister reigning for another 8 years- after reigning since 2007, since the Akyem Mafia took over the party. But as our elders say, you only exacerbate your sore, if you unnecessarily get irritated by the house fly”.
There is no end in sight for the infighting in the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the race of who becomes flagbearer for the party after Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has left office in 2024.
There are two major contenders in the race which includes Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Minister for Trade and Industry Alan Kyeremanteng. However, they’ve not made their intentions known publicly.

The Prime Minister speaks___
When the Prime Minister speaks and Oman FM picks up the scent, then you know the target is toast- the modus operandi of the Akyem Mafia.
Some people are hesitant to support Bawumia’s bid because they feel uneasy by the prospects of the Prime Minister reigning for another 8 years- after reigning since 2007, since the Akyem Mafia took over the party. But as our elders say, you only exacerbate your sore, if you unnecessarily get irritated by the house fly.
“Planting for Delegates and Votes” s3s3n? The Minister’s statement should have put the matter to rest- without cynical responses from any quarter.
We double dare the Akyem Mafia to fire Akoto.
And what kind of Transformation is the Prime Minister talking about? Agya wa dwo. Even Lake Bonsomtwi road koraa you have not been able to complete after 5 years.
The Akyem Mafia better concentrate on making Kumasi roads like Kyebi roads if they want to continue their reign through Bawumia post 2024. Akoto is the least of their worries.
Now, where are the cynics who claimed Akoto was sent to Kumerica by the Akyem Mafia to split Alan votes!
Keep resting, Bro!
