Mahama should retract his ‘do or die’ comment – Nana Akomea
Former Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party Nana Akomea has also waded into the discussion about the ‘do or die’ comment by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress in election 2020, John Mahama and has urged him to withdraw that controversial comment he made.
Nana Akomea explained that if it is an expression that connotes death and violence then Mahama must quickly withdraw it.
This controversial comment came up during John Mahama’s thank you tour in the Bono Region where he said the party he represents, the NDC will be more vigilant during the 2024 elections.
The NDC‘s 2020 presidential candidate continues to argue that the 2020 elections were rigged but for the peace of Ghana, he and the party accepted the ruling of the supreme court hence the NDC will be more vigilant during election 2024 since elections are won at the polling stations.
Some Ghanaians have criticized him over this comment and are demanding a retraction but John Mahama has justified his comment insisting that it is an idiomatic expression which means a critical assignment you must do else you perish.
Nana Akomea on the other hand disagrees with the justification by the former President insisting that Mr Mahama’s comment only endorses electoral violence.
