Former legislator for the Tamale Central constituency, Inusah Fuseini has called on President Akufo-Addo to give a listening ear to calls to remove embattled Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta from office.

The former Lands and Natural Resources Minister during an interview on Citi TV criticized the president for showing a gross form of impunity by failing to listen to the calls and could not fathom why despite the complaints about the Minister’s performance by Ghanaians the President has seemingly refused to show him the exit.

He added that “The failure of the president to act on the call by 234 Members of Parliament calling for the sacking of Ofori-Atta is probably the height of impunity…I think that it is time the President listened. Article 1 states it clearly that the powers of government must be exercised for the welfare of the people not the welfare of family members of the President”.

Unfortunately, the woes of the Finance Minister have worsened as pressure is being mounted on President Akufo-Addo amid threats from about 90 Members of Parliament from the Majority Caucus not to participate in the budget reading and also issues involving the Finance Ministry if Mr Ken Ofori-Atta is still in office.

Interestingly, Members of Parliament from the Majority Caucus demanding the removal of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and Mr Charles Adu Boahen who was recently sacked courtesy of an exposé by Tiger Eye PI for an alleged corrupt act has increased compared to the previous number which was about 80.

An ad-hoc committee has been constituted in Parliament by Speaker RT Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to investigate the numerous accusation levelled against the Finance Minister by the Minority caucus who wants him out.
