Let’s unite in order to break the 8 – NPP national chairman aspirant
With the slogan of breaking the 8 in mind, the aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Akwesi Osei Agyei is of the view that “NPP needs unity to remain formidable in order to break the 8-year cycle”
In a press briefing on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, to announce his intention of becoming the next National Chairman of the NPP, the Former Foreign Affairs Minister, commended the party stalwarts for their hard work in service to the NPP’s tradition, especially in the 2020 general election.
He acknowledged, “It is an honour for me to say kudos to the ever-cherished gallant men and women of the New Patriotic Party for their hard work in service to our great tradition, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), towards our electoral victories, especially in the 2020 general elections. I truly believe that both executive and non-executive members deserve commendation and reward”.
The aspiring chairman who doubles as the former Member of Parliament for Ejisu-Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region, also noted that “to break the 8, it is imperative for the NPP to choose experienced and mature leaders with the requisite wisdom to go back to the tradition of the party and, resurrect the spirit of old and uphold the values of service, sacrifice, and reward of the great party”
The former legislator further promised to strengthen the grassroots, promote internal democracy and foster consensus within the party.
He urged the party stalwarts to deliberately unite the NPP to make it formidable and attractive for purposes of breaking the 8.

From 1992 to 1996, Mr. Akwasi Osei-Agyei was the Member of Parliament for the NPP party for Ejisu Juaben.
He rose through the ranks of political appointments such that In 2003, he was assigned to the position of Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. In July 2007-2009, Mr. Akwasi Osei-Agyei was appointed as a substantive Minister of Foreign Affairs.
