I am not monetizing the NPP flagbearer race – Boakye Agyarko
It is clearly evident that the race to lead the New Patriotic Party is subtly heating up as most of the known potential candidates have made some contributions to the various New Patriotic Party annual delegates conferences.
For now, one of the known faces interested in leading the party in that race Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is said to have donated some cash to each region.
But another forerunner in the race which happens to be the former Energy Minister Mr Boakye Agyarko on the sidelines of the Greater Accra Region NPP delegates conference also donated to the party but debunked the notion that he wants to monetize the NPP flagbearer race.
Mr Agyarko made it clear that his financial obligations and contributions towards the betterment of the party did not start today stating that another NPP stalwart in the person of Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman who was the then treasurer of the party was a witness and aware of his contributions towards the party since 1992.
He then quizzed that why is that during the times he was donating thousands of dollars to the party nobody questioned him and that he was not donating with any ulterior motive as it has been his practice for thirty years to donate to the party.
Regarding his presidential ambition, he believes his thirty years of loyal stewardship to the party would speak for him and he will wholeheartedly accept the outcome of the delegates whether he wins the race or not.
The Greater Accra Regional NPP annual delegates conference which came off yesterday, October 14, 2021, was graced by other NPP stalwarts as well other than Mr Boakye Agyarko. Some of them include the Director Of Operations at the Presidency Mr Lord Commey, Greater Accra Regional Minister Mr Henry Quartey and other stakeholders of the party as well.
The main motive of the conference was to encourage the delegates to unite in order for the party to win the 2024 elections.
Also, it was to help the regional branch of the party reflect on how they lost some seats in the 2020 elections in order to strategize to win the seats back.
According to the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party Mr Divine Otoo Agorhm, the NPP Greater Accra went into election 2020 with 21 seats and projected adding three more but it, unfortunately, did not happen that way making them come back to the drawing board to win those seats back.
