Your comments amount to defamation – Volta Youth Network to Paul Adom Otchere
Controversial host of Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom Otchere’s criticism of the Agbogbomefia of Asogli State, Togbe Afede’s refund of the ex gratia given to him for serving in the Council of State has triggered a response from the Volta Youth Network.
Convener for the group, Richard Agbeko, after initially issuing a statement has come out to clarify their issues with Paul Adom Otchere’s utterances on Togbe Afede during an interview on the Active Morning Show stating that “We are not going hard on Paul Adom Otchere but we are rather going hard on his character of ingratitude, the character of irresponsible journalism and character of mercenary journalism that is what we are going hard on,” the convener said
Expatiating further on their response to Paul Adom Otchere, he said, “those are the characteristics that are clear and eminently displayed by Paul Adom Otchere and though it looks like we are hard on him it is his character that we are hard on”.
The convener argued that the same way Paul Adom Otchere made his point clear and argued why he does not agree with Togbe Afede returning the ex gratia, that is the same way the group does not agree with his stance.
When quizzed on how they would handle the situation if some demands the group made in the statement are not done the convener said “we also have the right to seek legal redress concerning the matter because what he did constitutes defamation and we are talking to our lawyers to exploit any of these options”.
Togbe Afede refunded the ex gratia paid to him for serving in the Council of State has sparked lots of conversation and caused some anger among Ghanaians, especially in the light of the economic woes the country is going through currently.
But while others are hailing Togbe Afede for returning the money which could be pumped into other important things in the country, others like Paul Adom Otchere do not take kindly to his gesture sparking a rift between him and the group sympathetic to Togbe Afede
