You tell us work is ongoing meanwhile is only okro that is grown there – Mintah Akandoh fires health minister
Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu has been slammed by the Minority Caucus for not telling Ghanaians the issue at hand regarding the La General Hospital Reconstruction Project.
To ascertain the Minister of Health claims about the progress of work on the site so far the Minority caucus members on the health committee of parliament led by Mr Kwabena Akandoh decided to pay a visit to the site only to realize that work has halted on the site contrary to what the Minister has been reporting to the house.
Interestingly the contractor of the project has left the site.
The government in its bid to give the La General hospital which has served the community for years now a facelift demolished the old building two years ago and cut sod in 2020 to earnestly start work on the site at €680 million but two years down the line the project is yet to come into fruition for the community.
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, ranking member of the health committee and legislator for Juaboso while addressing the media urged the government to immediately call on the contractor to return to work to help take care of the health needs of the residents.
“There hasn’t been much improved, the only difference I see here is that they have grown some okro on the field. The project was supposed to be completed in 24 months. This month is the 29th month but look at what is going on here. If we have to come here hundred times, we will come. Getting the job done is our target and we’ll continue to come here until this project is fully executed.”
He slammed the Health Minister for telling lies to Ghanaians after he presented his report on 14th March 2022 that the construction was ongoing on the site.
