The impasse between the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and some residents within the Krobo enclave in the Eastern Region is still on and has become a grave source of worry to the Yilo Krobo Municipal Chief Executive Mr Eric Tetteh.

Mr Tetteh has planned to send a petition to the management and board of ECG on Monday, August 8, 2022, in a bid to help resolve the impasse.

Most residents with the Yilo and Lower Manya Krobo enclave have for over a week now not been able to access electricity due to the situation as field workers of ECG feel their safety has been compromised with some youth within the enclave alleged to have tampered with their transformers.

Students and business owners in both communities have not been spared the harsh consequences of such an impasse as it is taking a toll on their livelihoods.

“For me as an MCE, I don’t want this situation to continue where the ECG is saying that they are not safe and that is why my municipality is in darkness.”

“I want the whole world to know that my municipality has not contributed to any safety problems for them,” Mr Tetteh.

Meanwhile, the ECG in its conditions spelt out said power will only be restored to the Krobo enclave if its staff within the enclave feel safe.

The ECG’s stance has also been backed by the Public Utility Workers Union who advised its members with ECG in that enclave not to work until they have optimum security.
