Why NAGRAT is angry over the appointment of Dr Eric Nkansah as new GES boss
The appointment of Dr Eric Nkansah as the new Director–General of the Ghana Education Service has been met with stiff opposition from the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT).
Referring to their preference for someone who has risen through the ranks as the new GES boss following the sacking of Prof Opoku-Amankwa, the group has expressed its misgivings about the new appointment. According to NAGRAT, it is not too pleased with the new appointment because Dr Nkansah does not meet that criteria.
President of NAGRAT, Mr Angel Carbonu during an interview on Citi FM called for the immediate withdrawal of the new GES boss stating that he is not a professional teacher but a banker and has not risen through the ranks.
According to Mr Carbonu, teachers do not want a banker leading them and Dr Nkansah’s appointment does not sit well with stakeholders in education so he should be withdrawn.
