We’ll prosecute Aisha Huang based on both old and new offences – Attorney General
The department of the Attorney General has revealed that according to the Attorney General Mr Godfred Dame, the ‘Galamsey’ kingpin Aisha Huang will be prosecuted in respect of the crimes she committed before her 2018 deportation and her recent crimes.
Dame has called for a new docket on the recent offenses of Aisha but added he will re-initiate prosecution in respect of the old offenses.
“The Attorney-General has called for the new docket on En Huang a.k.a. Aisha, regarding offences she is suspected to have recently committed. The A-G will also re-initiate prosecution in respect of the old offences for which she was standing trial before her deportation in 2018,” Godfred Dame said.
The post from the state Attorney concluded by emphasizing that “there shall be a full prosecution for her alleged new and past offences.”
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu has said president Nana Akufo-Addo is a failure in the fight against ‘Galamsey’ following the re-arrest of the Chinese illegal mining kingpin, Aisha Huang, on 5th September after government announced in 2018 that she was expatriated, .
Other stakeholders have also berated the National Security over the re-emergence and illegal mining activities by the unfazed Chinese ‘Galamsey’ kingpin.
Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa called the bluff of government officials and the National Security operatives of their claims that they are well-equipped with modern sophisticated systems to combat terrorism, as a single “notorious Chinese galamsey queen can so dribble an entire security apparatus like hot knife through butter, then we are all in very big trouble. I also wonder what exactly is happening to the billions of Ghana Cedis Parliament has approved over the years for an enhanced security climate” he laments.
