We invited Kennedy Agyapong by mistake – Asogli State
Secretary of the Asogli State Council, Mr Stephen Tetteh has issued a press statement today 12th September 2022, explaining why the council and Togbe Afade rejected gifts from the lawmaker for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong at the climax of the Asogli 2022 Te Za (Yaw festival) on Saturday.
Mr Stephen Tetteh explained that the MP did request to attend some of the activities of the festival, but his request was rejected.
The statement attributes the action of the council and Togbe Afade to disapprove the request to some ‘loose comments’ made previously by Mr Kennedy Agyapong for which he has shown no remorse.
Amongst these comments are one Mr Agyapong made on April on April 24, 2009, that “Togbe Afede is a shameless opportunist” and on November 7, 2018, that “Togbe Afede is corrupt, he supervised fraudulent withdrawal of 13 million cedis from NIB”.
“The leadership of the Asogli state council however disapproved of it because of several ‘Loose comments and utterances’ he had made which the Council viewed as unbecoming of an Honorable Member of Parliament,” the statement reads.
The secretary of the Asogli State council, however, apologized to the council and Mr Kennedy Agyapong for lapses made by extending an invitation to the MP.
“I accept responsibility for the Administrative Lapses which resulted in the sending of an invitation letter to Mr Agyapong. I apologize to both the Asogli State Council and Mr Agyapong” it concluded.
