As Ghana continues to grapple with unemployment, a program brought to relieve the country’s youth of such a situation is the establishment of the Nation Builders Corps, a temporary job recruitment drive initiated by the government that sort to engage the unemployed youth and also offer them experience to enable to fit well in the job market.

Despite the commendable gesture by the government, one would not deny the fact that it has been fraught with some challenges and aside from that some of the beneficiaries are now deeply worried about their fate as they are about to exit the program after three years.

President Akufo-Addo has assured that about 49,000 beneficiaries have been absorbed for employment whiles others have become entrepreneurs after their experience on the program.

During his tour of the Ashanti Region, he further assured that more young graduates are set to benefit from the program. “We are looking at recruiting many more into the programme in the coming days.”

The NABCo job recruitment initiative was birthed in 2018 by president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo which engaged nearly 100,000 unemployed graduates into the various modules.

There are seven modules under the initiative designed to meet the pressing needs of the nation while providing jobs for the teeming youth who have received tertiary education but are struggling to find jobs.

The beneficiaries were thus engaged under a  three years contract and they earned a monthly stipend of GH¢700 each.
