We Deserve Equal Opportunity As 2018 Registered General Nurses – 2018 Registered Nurse Assistants To Government

1

Registered Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) and Nurse Assistant Preventive (NAP)  referrals 2018 batch have expressed their displeasure to the Government, Finance and the Health Ministries over what they term unfair treatment..

In their quest to fight for what is due them, a coalition (Coalition of Unemployed Nurses) was formed. They insist that they should be treated the same way both Diploma and Degree Holders of 2018 Registered General Nurses and Registered Midwives are being treated.

Having demonstrated in December 2020 on the same issue, the problem still stands unsolved regardless of the number of times they have reached the appropriate quarters.

In a press conference held, the coalition’s Press and Information Secretary, Mani Samad explained, December 18, 2020, public notice was brought out by the Ministry of Health indicating that all referral nurses should access their portals in the same month December 22″.

He said they did accordingly, some of them even slept at where they were to access their portals but could not access the portals. However, the Registered General Nurses, Mental Health, Midwives and degree referrals were able to access their portals and are all at their various work points.

“Since that December till now, we have been doing follow-ups to the Health Ministry in order to also get our financial clearance to access the portal, but they keep giving us excuses and nothing good has come out of it,” Mani Samad emphasized.

According to Samad, they have held several meetings with the Ministry including the GRNMA president, of which they were given assurance of meeting their demands in March 2021 but both March and April have ended but still no good news.

He further added, “We all know that when you are referred, you also follow three (3) months after the mainstream. We see it to be discriminatory and very hurting we are all nurses who sat and wrote the exams both first and second times and we all made it”.

The big question is, “why is it that the Ministry is so selective in giving their fellows the opportunity to access the portal leaving them behind?”.

“If the services of the Nurse Assistant Clinical (NAC) and Nurse Assistant Preventive are not needed anymore, then they should stop people from pursuing the course, other than wasting time and resources on it,” Mr Samad stressed.

Having said they are sick and tired of the situation, they therefore urge the government and both the Finance Ministry and Health Ministry to act on their own promises.
