WAEC denies examination leakage reports
It is examination time once again for final year students in the various Senior High Schools as they end that phase of their academic journey.
However, it is unfortunate that the examination regulatory body West Africa Examination Council continue to battle the phenomenon of examination leakage. This time, it had to do with the Food and Nutrition West Africa Senior Secondary School Examination (WASSCE) paper that was alleged to have been leaked online, a claim by Africa Education Watch.
The claim was however debunked by Madam Wendy Addy-Lamptey, Head of WAEC National Office citing that the claims are false and added that such information causes anxiety and undermines the integrity of the institution internationally as well.
She urged people with such information to do due diligence before coming out with such claims and warned the candidates to desist from joining any online platform that promises to send them questions before their paper starts.
WAEC also intends to pursue legal action against Africa Education watch on their leakage claims but the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Mr Kofi Asare is not perturbed and indicated that the organization still stands by its claims and would also monitor events during the ongoing WASSCE examination as well.
He also recommended that WAEC as an organization should have its examination security features digitized to avoid such situations.
