The recent suspension of the renowned and popular TV broadcaster Captain Smart by Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) has raised so many eyebrows in the country as people wonder what could have led to his fate. We have something that could answer the question.
It is of no doubt that Captain Smart who has one of the loudest voices on radio criticized the Akufo-Addo led government severally on the many issues facing the nation. The economic hardships, the management, and distribution of power and water have been issues many have raised concerns about, Captain Smart included.
Video of the last show that was held by the ace broadcaster before his suspension shows him lambasting Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He questioned his economic competence and mocked him for watching on helpless as the country’s debt to GDP ratio spirals out of hand.
According to Captain Smart on his show, he is one of the prime supporters of the NPP party who had to work underground for the party to gain power and very disappointed in the party after gaining power because the Vice President failed to protect the country and its citizens as promised during the campaigns.
This is what probably now caused an overflow and led to his suspension from the station. The manager of the station came out with explanations that he was warned to desist from such criticisms but he failed to adhere to them hence his suspension.
On his show, he told the public that since the party has failed to fulfill all its promises to Ghanaians, he has the right to ‘slaughter’ them on the radio just like he did during the period the opposition NDC was in power.
