Stop denying your partner sex as punishment – Catholic Priest advises couples
Father Isaac Benuyenah, Parish Priest of St Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Hohoe has asked partners in marriage to avoid denying their partners sex.
He noted that “withholding sex from a partner as a kind of punishment drove them away from the marriage”.
Men should be humble, respectful, and apologize whenever they are wrong, according to Fr Benuyenah, adding that unless a couple is sick, they should not deny each other sex.
He also urged husbands to understand their wives, particularly during their menopausal stages.
According to the Priest, as quoted by the Ghana news agency, menopause comes with a slew of ailments, including hot flashes and waist pains, demanding more male attention.
Father Isaac Benuyenah, also stated that personal hygiene was another crucial issue to consider in marriage preparation because “appearing presentable every day without keeping some parts of the body neat would not prepare a lady or a gentleman for marriage”.
He was preaching on the subject of “God’s purpose for mankind” (particularly for marriage).
Men and women, he said, should practice proper hygiene and maintain their marital residences clean, especially women after childbirth.
The Parish Priest stated that the focus of couples should be on the marriage and that any other interests should be secondary.
“If you are going into marriage with any other interest, you will fail. Maintain whatever attracted you both the first time you meet”, he advised.
He warned that financial situations should not also take precedence over the essence of marriage, that disagreements should be over issues rather than anger, and that spouses should not allow their anger to fester.
According to the Priest, marriage lives must be marked by faithfulness, honesty and backed by prayer.
Father Isaac Benuyenah, also advised that prayer should be a vital part of a relationship, courting, and marriage.
