Special Prosecutor invites rejected Juaben MCE nominee
Beleaguered Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben in the Ashanti Region has been invited for questioning by the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng following a video of him demanding a refund of monies he paid to assembly members to secure their votes for a second term as MCE but suffered rejection.
The Special prosecutor deemed Mr Sarfo Kantanka as a person necessary for investigations.
He has been directed to report at the Office of the Special Prosecutor in Accra at 2.30 pm on Tuesday, November 9 for questioning.
In the letter addressed to the nominee, he has been told he could report in the company of his lawyer. “You may be accompanied by counsel of your choice,” the letter addressed to Mr Kantanka noted.
“The Office of the Special Prosecutor has commenced investigations into allegations of corruption and corruption-related offences (especially corruption and intimidation in respect of a public election) particularly in relation to your nomination and confirmation or otherwise as the Municipal Chief Executive of Juaben Municipality in the Ashanti Region,” the letter revealed.
Mr Kantanka’s invitation was stemmed from the events that unfolded after his second rejection by assembly members of the Juaben Municipal Assembly.
.An incensed Alex was captured in a secretly filmed video, demanding a refund of the money he was alleged to have paid some assembly members which, unfortunately, failed to do enough to confirm his nomination as he was rejected for the second time since his nomination by President Akufo-Addo.
The rejected nominee in the secret video also hurled insults and curses at some individuals believed to be assembly members who after accepting his money did not confirm him as the substantive MCE for the area.
He demanded that everyone who accepted the cash return his money urgently.
After moving in swiftly to arrest him before later granting him bail, the Police have revealed they have also begun investigations into the matter.
