Sekondi-Takoradi MCE arraigned before court after an altercation with a policeman
Beleaguered Metropolitan Chief Executive for Sekondi-Takoradi, Abdul Mumin Issah has been arraigned before the court today February 4 2022 for an alleged motor traffic offence.
Following his clash with a police officer on duty he was arrested and has subsequently been charged on three (3) counts of Assault of a public officer, Offensive conduct conducive to breaches of peace and disturbing the peace in a public place contrary to Sections 205, 207 and 298 respectively, of the Criminal and Other Offences Act of 1960, Act 29.
The MCE, who was driving a Toyota Land-cruiser with registration number GE 5615-20 was alleged to have driven dangerously and carelessly as he approached a police snap checkpoint close to the Kwesimintsim Cemetery.
When one of the police officers on duty attempted to stop him, he verbally assaulted and threatened him.
“You are stupid, you ugly policeman, you say a whole police officer, you are nothing. Don’t worry, let him play his King Kong thing, I have exercised patience for you to call whoever is coming, I could just pass by and there is nothing he can do. If I decide to pass by what else can you do,” Mr. Issah said in a viral video of the said altercation.
“If you had acted otherwise, I would have beaten you to death,” he added.
The Policeman who stood his ground during the altercation was heard saying that he was a professional who will not insult him[MCE] back but would ensure that he faced the law for driving dangerously and putting his[policeman] life at risk.
The MCE, a known personality in the metropolis, served as NPP Chairman for the Takoradi Constituency for a long time before he was appointed following the death of the former MCE K.K. Sam.
