Salaga South MP to bear medical examination cost of sodomized JHS students
Following complaints of parents of the 19 students that are victims of sodomy by a teacher at the Kulpi Junior High School in the East Gonja district of the Savanah Region of their inability to pay for the medical examination fees at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, help has come their way.
Parents of the victims can now heave a sigh of relief as the Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah is prepared to take up the cost of medical examination to aid the Police investigation.
The legislator was outraged about the situation deeming it unbelievable and urging Ghanaians to take another careful look at societal values again.
She further indicated that this unfortunate sodomy incidence makes the case of Members of Parliament who are against the legalization of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) case stronger where the laws of Ghana deems sodomy as a crime.
Meanwhile, private medical practitioner Dr Dennis Bortey expressed worry that the continued delay for the medical examination could ruin the evidence and he urged the Police to widen the scope of their investigation into the matter for justice to prevail.
The teacher involved, Natomah Otabel confessed to carrying out the act while he was in the grips of the Police hence the need for a medical examination on his victims.
