Police action has compromised my security, strange men trailing me everywhere – Sosu
Legislator for the Madina constituency Francis-Xavier has lamented that the resolve by the Police to get him arrested by all means is an attempt to prevent him from effectively discharging his duties as a legislator.
The legislator also revealed that he is being secretly tracked by some strange men who monitor his activities both at home and at work as well.
In response to the bench warrant issued to apprehend him on Tuesday, November 30th 2021 a disappointed Lawyer Sosu says he sees it as an attempt to compromise him and his family’s security.
“I consider the Police action and the recent bench warrant as a deliberate attack on my person, personal, and family security. This is coupled with strange men following me and seen around my residence and office areas, which highly endangers my life, that of my family and workers.”
The legislator also added that he sees what is happening to him as an attempt by the government and the Police to obstruct him from effectively discharging his duties.
“I wish to remind the President of the Republic of Ghana and the Ghana Police Service that as a Statesman serving my nation in my capacity as a Member of Parliament, my personal security and security of my family should have been their concern.”
Mr Sosu’s tussle with the police started after he led a demonstration in his constituency over deplorable roads on 25th October 2021.
According to the Police during the demonstration, some unlawful acts were carried out of which the legislator was invited by police but he failed to honour the invitation leading to them resorting to the court but on that occasion, the legislator also failed to honour that invitation leading to the issuing of a bench warrant for his arrest.
In another response to his legal tussle with the police, Mr. Sosu filed a motion seeking for the enforcement of his right to freedom of movement, right to protest and demonstrate, right to personal liberty, right to freedom of expression, and right against unlawful arrest and malicious prosecution.
