Pay your Qwikloan or face repercussions in future – Bank of Ghana warns Qwikloan defaulters
Bank of Ghana (Bog) has warned defaulters of Mobile Money Qwikloan who have refused to register their SIM cards with the Ghana Card to do the needful else be ready to face the consequences.
A statement issued by the Bank of Ghana today, Wednesday, 28th September stated that data on all mobile money loan customers are available in the database of credit bureaus, which is always used to verify one’s status in loan acquisition.
“As a result failure to repay such loans will attract negative repercussions on borrowers’ credit reports and could subsequently adversely affect any chance of obtaining loan facilities from other financial institutions and credit providers in future,” part of the statement said.
It will be recalled that the Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu while addressing a press conference in Accra on Sunday, 31st July described defaulters who are avoiding the SIM cards re-registration exercise in a bid to elude the creditors as people engaged in “evil corruption”.
She said, “I have also been informed that some people who have obtained Qwik Loans from their service providers have decided not to register those SIMs to avoid repaying the loans. That is evil corruption and you will be found out.”
