Obengfo Hospital closed down again
The Advanced Body Sculpt Centre otherwise known as Obengfo Hospital is in the grips of the law again following an order from the Accra High Court for them to stop operating.
This follows the hospital’s decision to go to court to restrain the Health Facilities and Regulatory Agency (HEFRA) from shutting the health facility down for operating without the requisite license.
HEFRA as part of its regulatory enforcement measures closed down Obengfo Hospital and other health facilities.
But according to the Obengfo Hospital, HEFRA lacked the capacity to shut down the Advanced Body Sculpt Centre located at Weija Junction in Accra.
Its CEO sought an order of the court compelling HEFRA to issue him a license so he could operate his health facility through a writ of mandamus.
But the court in its ruling said Obengfo Hospital failed to get its license early enough and also that HEFRA acted within its mandate by shutting down the facility for operating without a license.
Dr Obeng-Andoh has been in the news several times for legalities linked to his practice and in January 2017, the Medical and Dental Council got the Obengfo Hospital closed down for operating illegally.
