NPP supporters now feel scared, struggle to defend the party – Ivan Kyei Innocent
A social commentator, Ivan Kyei Innocent has claimed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters can no longer defend the party.
In a discussion on the Active Morning Show with Agyenim Boateng Adjaye on Active TV, the maverick social commentator said that it is a very difficult thing for the supporters of the NPP to defend the party because they feel shy to talk about the governance and even to boldly identify with the party.
According to him, the supporters now know that things have gone beyond common political talks as everyone can testify that there is a public show of bad governance and the country is suffering from it the supporters are scared to talk about it.
Explaining what led to this, Mr Kyei Innocent said the country experiences poor governance because the citizens jump to whatever, that they hear without making efforts to often establish the truth behind all that is said.
He said the monies spent during the NPP delegates Conference which was held at the Accra Sports Stadium, was an example of reckless leadership and political foolhardy, an attitude if checked would have been very useful for the country.
Mr Kyei Innocent wondered why money which could have been used judiciously to develop or finish incomplete projects was wasted just in a bid to secure “mere positions” in a party.
He expressed shock at how a party that came to power on the back of good promises to fight corruption, use the public purse wisely and others could be this terrible and inconsiderate.
With Ghana currently in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund for a bailout programme, the outspoken social commentator said it was an avoidable situation had the leadership of the country planned and managed the country’s finances well but that was rather sacrificed for reckless spending.
