NPP man linked to GH¢1 million Finance Ministry ghost names salaries in Auditor General’s report
A parliamentary hopeful of the New Patriotic Party NPP for Tamale North Habibu Adam has been allegedly linked to one of the three persons that fit into the names cited in the Ministry of Finance GH¢1 million ‘ghost’ salaries saga.
The Ministry of Finance has been indicted in the Auditor General report for paying three persons who were not staff of the Ministry a total of GH¢1,112,895.96 as salaries from January 2020 to December 2021.
The names of the three persons mentioned in the report are, Allotey Eamon James, Kwakye Nana Yaw Asiedu, and Adam Habibu, who were not traceable by the Auditor.
According to the report, the first person received a total of GH¢ 206,433.00, the second person GH¢ 535,738.80, and the last person GH¢ 370, 724.16 culminating in the GH¢1,112,895.96 total.
Habibu Adam, who has been allegedly identified in posters, run on the ticket of the NPP as a parliamentary hopeful candidate name matches with the third person on the list of the 3 persons from whom the Auditor General charged the Ministry of Finance to recover the money.
Adam is also seen in pictures with two leading figures of the government’s economic management team, Yaw Osarfo Marfo, and the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta. As to whether this is just a coincidence or it is a reality, we are unable to confirm. All efforts to speak to the Northern Regional NPP communication officer have proven futile.
The report concluded stating “we recommend that the amount GH¢1,112,895.96 should be recovered from the Chief Director and the Payroll validators of MoF”.
