NLC set to intervene in Metro Mass Transit stand-off
The National Labour Commission is scheduled to today Friday, 14th October 2022 hear the grievances of workers of Metro Mass Transit Limited who have embarked on industrial action.
Angry workers of Metro Mass Transit Limited commenced on 12th October 2022. They cite delays in salaries and also a lack of trust in the current management of the company to competently run the company as contributory factors to their action.
Stranded passengers are bearing the brunt most in the situation and the National Labour Commission has stepped in hoping to resolve it.
Meanwhile, the workers insist on their demands saying “The demand is that we want to hear from the President on the removal of the Managing Director. Until that, the strike is still on. We don’t know what the Commission is going to tell us, so we will still sit and go and listen to them”.
They also served a word of caution through the Secretary of the senior staff division of the workers that they will not hesitate to continue their industrial action if pleas are not considered
