National Security operatives deployed at Kotoka to enforce no vaccination, no entry policy
In a bid to make the new stringent measures adopted by authorities of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) a successful one, Psychologist and the National Security have all been deployed to ensure that the no vaccination, no entry directive is enforced to the letter.
Dr. Franklyn Asiedu-Bekoe Director of Public Health at the Ghana Health Service is optimistic about the smooth implementation of the directive and guidelines as all stakeholders have been duly informed.
“Airlines can be surcharged if they bring in somebody who is not vaccinated,” he said adding that “What we are trying to do is to ensure that Ghanaians are safe.”
Due to the constant battle with Covid-19, stringent measures have been put in place by the management of one of the points of entry into Ghana, Kotoka International Airport to ensure that people arriving into the country are all vaccinated against the coronavirus.
This is to curb the rate of infection during the Christmas season.
Among the measures, “Airlines who board passengers without proof of payment for the Covid -19 test and would/ could not pay for the test in Ghana will be fined US$3500 per passenger.”
Also, “non-Ghanaian passengers may be refused entry and be returned to the point of embarkation at a cost to the Airline.”
