NABCo trainees asked to remain at post pending permanent arrangements
Can it be described as some hope at last as trainees under one of the government’s flagship programs Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) have been asked to remain at post while some arrangements are being made for their contract to now be permanent?
This arrangement is said to be part of the preparations after their three-year training.
This new communication was sent to all trainees after a high-level stakeholder meeting between Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare.
This scheme was introduced in 2018 by President Akufo–Addo to address the issue of youth unemployment in the country.
Per the stipulations of their contracts, the trainees’ engagement has already ended since it expired on Sunday 31st October 2021.
The NABCO program was run under seven modules namely Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitise Ghana, Enterprise Ghana, and Civic Ghana.
All seven modules are being run by the Module Implementation Partners (MIPs), whose leaders joined Monday’s high-level meeting.
“In line with the exit preparation after your three(3) years on the scheme, all NABCO trainees will remain at post pending permanent arrangements,” the notice to trainees said.
“The NABCO Secretariat expects trainees to continue to discharge their duties diligently and professionally at their various workplaces whilst the scheme and the MIPs work towards a smooth final transition.
“A new cohort of NABCO trainees will be recruited next year.”
