The Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has urged the government to beef up security and counter-crimes beyond sloganeering.

In a three-page document issued on Sunday, June 12, 2022, CPP reckoned that “as it is today, we in this country are fighting terrorists and armed robbery attacks with sloganeering of ‘See Something Say Something'”.

The statement further noted that “the Security of the Ghanaian is at risk, there are unprecedented armed robbery attacks in the Northern Region, killings at Bawku and other places and there seems to be a lack of interest and strategy on the part of the NPP government under the leadership of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to salvage the issue of Security and also take steps to galvanise all security forces and apparatus to deal with
the situation”.

The statement which was signed by the CPP’s General Secretary, Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah,
also argued that “A CPP government as we have done before would have resourced properly the Police Service with adequate logistical support to deal with the devastating Security Crisis facing the country today.

In charging the government to do more the CPP wants to see more action and less sloganeering where Government deploy the Military to augment the efforts of other Security forces in dealing with the current Security situation.

“As a means to curb the menace of Terrorism and Armed Robbery in the country, the CPP is asking government as a matter of urgency, roll out a workable roadmap with the Ghana Immigration Service to close all unapproved routes which lead into country”.
