Minister tours Kasoa BSP

Earlier this morning, the MP for Manhyia South and Minister of Energy and Petroleum was accompanied by the Minister for Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah and other officials from GRIDC0, ECG and MiDA to inspect the ongoing project for the construction of a Bulk Supply Point (BSP) at Kasoa.

Unlike the Pokuase BSP he visited a week ago, the Kasoa BSP is a Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) harnessing 435MVA. Its construction will address the low voltage and frequent power outage challenges caused by the increasing domestic and industrial demand in Kasoa and its environs including Senya Bereku, Bawjiase and Nyanyanu.

Upon completion, the programme will benefit 241,508 ECG customers by vastly improving GRIDCo’s power transmission system. At the inspection site, it was pleasant to note the considerable number of Ghanaian engineers who have been employed to work on the ongoing project; a sign that the vision for local participation is being upheld as promised by President Nana Akufo-Addo.
