Malaria is our problem not Covid-19 – Efia Odo
Efia Odo is fighting the Ghana Health Service’s strict requirement that everyone entering the country through the Kotoka International Airport be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
This requirement, according to the actress, prevents people from making their own decisions regarding the Covid vaccines. Andrea Owusu, well known in the entertainment industry as Efia Odo, used Twitter to express her feelings about the required Covid-19 immunization.
Malaria, she said, has killed more people than Covid-19. Each year, noted records 20,000 deaths from malaria yet it is Covid-19 Ghanaians are being required to receive vaccines against.
She tweeted, “Malaria has killed more people than Covid-19 (approximately 20,000 people yearly), but they’re mandating us to take a vaccine. Taking a vaccine should be a personal choice and not a mandatory decision. Guess I’m stuck in Ghana cuz I’m not taking any disapproved vaccine.”
Covid-19 vaccination has become a standard pass at many international airports across the world. Many countries have resumed tight processes to manage and mitigate the effects since the discovery of the Omicron strain.
