Police investigation reveal Kaaka was murdered by his brother

Mohammed Iddrisu alias Kaaka

Preliminary Police investigation into the murder of Mohammed ‘Kaaka’ Iddrisu in Ejura has revealed he was killed by someone very close to him. And that person turns out to be the brother of the deceased.

IA statement from the Police noted that their investigations have revealed that Kaaka was killed by one Baba Iddi who has been identified as a brother to Kaaka. This they said was revealed following their investigations and eyewitness accounts.

“Preliminary Police investigations disclosed, including eye witness accounts, that Mohammed Iddrisu alias Kaaka was attacked by one Baba Iddi, his brother,” the statement noted. It also added that the suspect has been arrested and in Police remand cells. “Baba Iddi has since been arrested, arraigned before court and remanded into Police custody and helping in Police investigations.”

Mohammed Iddrisu died on the 28th of June after he was attacked by unknown assailants two days earlier when he was returning home at around 1 am on the said day. His attackers beat him and left him unconscious before he was rushed to the Ejura Government Hospital for treatment. The facility however later transferred him to the Komfo Anokye Hospital in Kumasi where he passed on.

His death led to public outcry in the media and a street protest by the youth of the town on 29th June after they buried Kaaka. That protest turned violent and the Police and Military that was at the scene to control the crowd fired shots into the crowd and killed two persons; Abdul Nasir Yussif and Murtala Mohammed in the process.
