Induce people with gifts to take Covid-19 vaccines
The absence of a clear cut danger and the ripple effects of Covid-19 has contributed to the low turn out at the various vaccination centres this is the view being held by the Managing Director of State Transport Company, Nana Akomeah.
For him, this is a normal attitude with most people who let their guard down in the absence of danger.
He also lamented on the dwindling campaign of PPEs saying currently, “nobody is talking about PPEs and it is normal with the nature of human beings”.
“As we speak there is a resurgence of the Covid virus in Russia, a country that produces vaccines, and it is because the people are not taking the vaccines,” Nana Akomeah added.
He revealed how in other countries, most people are being paid to receive the Covid-19 jabs because there is no present danger.
“There are situations where people will enter your office, and because they have to wear their masks before they enter the office, they put on the mask but immediately they enter the office and sit down, they take it off,” he said.
Although there the world over there seems to be some amount of vaccine hesitancy the situation in Africa seems to be severe.
The case of Ghana seems evident that despite the government’s target to vaccinate 60% of the population by December it is unfortunate that this year less than 5% of the population has been vaccinated
He recommended to the government that the sure way they can hit their vaccination target is by inducing the unvaccinated populace with gifts.
For him, the gifts can be in monetary form and the introduction of restriction to unvaccinated people to certain places.
