IGP flies to Kumasi following police fracas with Islamic SHS students
Information has it that Dr George Akufo-Dampare Inspector General of Police is currently on his way to Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital following the demonstration by students of the Islamic Senior High School which unfortunately led to the hospitalisation of 20 students.
The students who had blocked the road to express their displeasure of a bad road in front of their school were allegedly teargassed by Police who had been called in by concerned residents and motorists.
The demonstration by the students was reportedly triggered by the frequent knockdowns by students and teachers by vehicles that ply the road in front of the school.
Reports further indicate that parents have thronged the school premises following reports of the incident involving the Police.
But parents are currently locked out behind the school’s gate, as school authorities say they will not allow the parents to see their wards.
