Ignore Bright Simmons, NIA quashes Ghana Card artwork ownership claims
The National Identification Authority has issued a Press Release urging Ghanaian to disregard the post of Mr Bright Simons, dated 12th August 2022 stating that the artworks of the Ghana Card was owned by a French company and the country had to later pay to get it.
In the said post Mr. Simons wrote “How many are even aware that until recently the Ghana card brand design itself was not owned by Ghana ? That it was owned by a French company & the country had to pay to get it ? When civil society scrutinizes your govt, be grateful. There’s a war for the soul of your country”.
However, the NIA has described the said post as “mix of half-truth, insinuation, self-praise and alarmism”. It added that the controversy over the Ghana Card Artwork, generated by the said post is wholly needless and distractive.
“The Artwork for the Ghanaian Card was designed by SAGEM MORPHO ( now IDEMIA) of France which won the contract for the production of the first generation of Ghana Card in 2008. The said Artwork is the same one used for the Ghana Card issued under the Foreigner Identification Management System (FIMS) to qualified foreigners lawfully resident in Ghana and the current generation of Ghana Card,” part of the Press Release read.
