Hanging ECG pole endangers lives of Madina residents
A faulty Electricity Company of Ghana’s distribution pole is endangering the lives of residents of Madina according to photos posted on social media by a Facebook user.
According to the Facebook user who is calling on the power distributors to come and fix the faulty pole, the poles have been suspended in that dangerous position since last week with naked wires all over.
Apart from the risk to persons living around the area, the post also indicates the pools are very close to the road which puts road users at risk of electrocution since according to residents there is power in the cables.
The pole can be seen in the photos leaning towards the road and if were to fall would hit any car or person nearby. The cables can also be seen coiled over under the pole which is only still standing partially due to the support from the power cables. The pole looks broken from the base.
In the post on Facebook, the user said “Attention please…….Please report this suspending pole to ECG. It’s at Madina police station road leading to Botwe near Asante Asante. Residents say there’s power in the cables but it has been left unattended to since last week. Naked wires are exposed and are on the floor. No warning signs or anything indicating danger exposing the road users to risk”.
At the time of filing this report, we cannot verify how long it has been in that position but the social media user said it traces back to last week.
