The second round of meetings over transport fares adjustment between the Ghana Private Road Transport Union and the government is scheduled to take place today 25th October 2022.

Soaring prices of petrol and diesel which is a major component of the transport business have necessitated the meeting between the government and the GPRTU who are demanding a 40% increment in the fares to sustain their business.

Mr Abassa Imoro, Industrial Relations Officer of GPRTU revealed during an interview on Citi FM that they could not make any headway with the government in the first meeting.

“The percentage government presented is not what we are looking for. That is the problem, so we will go and battle it out again,” he said.

The hint of an increment in transport fares has also left some commuters worried as some cry out that their salaries have not been increased.

Also, the Monday 24th October 2022 increment in fares by VIP JEOUN Transport limited left some commuters stranded as they had to go back home after they could not afford the fares.
