Government to acquire new and bigger Presidential jet – Eugene Arhin
Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin has disclosed that the government has planned to purchase a bigger presidential jet.
Answering a question during a press briefing with the presidential press corps on Monday, September 27, held at the Jubilee House, Eugene Arhin indicated that the government is in the process of acquiring a bigger presidential jet for the country.
The Director of Communication at the presidency presented that the current presidential jet was not capacitated enough to carry the president and his entourage to certain business meetings outside Ghana.
He expressed surprise about how a bigger jet which was going to be purchased in addition to the current Falcon 900EX for Ghana was cancelled after the Kufour Administration left office arguing that that “it would have made economic sense to keep the bigger one” adding that the media needed not to be sent ahead of a Presidential trip since the aircraft could carry a huge delegation.
Mr Eugene Arhin confirmed for a fact that the government was in the process of acquiring a new presidential jet and also indicated that the Minister will give further information on the government’s plan to acquire a bigger presidential jet for the country.
Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has in a series of writeups and parliamentary questions been on the neck of President Akufo-Addo for what he describes as luxurious and opulent lifestyle as he has alleged that the president travels on a luxurious chartered private jet which costs the Ghanaian taxpayer millions of Ghana cedis.
However, the president’s spokesperson for the second time denied those allegations during Monday’s press briefing, claiming the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency peddled falsehood.
