Government has not abandoned you – Dr Letsa to tidal waves victims
Victims of the unfortunate tidal waves that hit the Ketu South and Anlo Constituencies have been assured by the Volta Regional Minister Dr Archibal Letsa that the government has not abandoned them and is committed to easing the pain and trauma they are going through after the incident.
He indicated the government’s resolve to offer support in every possible way to the people of the Volta Region.
“We are with you and the government is with you, and the government has not abandoned you. We will continue to do our best, and we are open to all collaborations,” Dr. Letsa said.
Residents of Keta in the Anlo district and Ketu South Municipalities are counting their losses after their homes and business centres were hit by tidal waves.
The Regional Minister Dr Letsa was accompanied by the Association of bankers and other corporate institutions, to donate food and non-food items worth millions of Ghana cedis to the Keta Municipal Assembly on Saturday.
Ghanaians took to various platforms to criticize the government for its lack of timely support to the victims.
Meanwhile, Former President John Mahama was in the area to commiserate with the victims and donate some items on Saturday and wonder why there hadn’t even been a significant visit from the government.
Speaking during a visit to some affected communities, Mr. Mahama said, “even if you cannot provide them with anything, just a visit to show that you care about them is important.”
The National Disaster Management Organisation offered has offered some relief support to the persons displaced by the flooding.
