Go Out And Vote Massively For Akufo-Addo- Ambassador Nii Ayikoi Otoo
Ghana former Attorney General and Minister of Justice in the erstwhile John Agyekum Kuffour administration and current Ghana’s High commissioner to Canada has advised Ghanaians to go out and vote massively for their preferred candidates in this year’s general elections.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Active TV, the affable lawyer stressed the need for citizens not to turn the general elections into war.
Lawyer Ayikoi Otoo was born into a humble family. His father was a bursar and his mother a trader at the Makola market. Being the nephew of the founder of Ebenezer Secondary School in Accra, he obtained his GCE Ordinary Level certificate from the er and continued to Fijai Secondary School in Sekondi for his Sixth form education in 1976. Upon completion in 1979, he enrolled at the Ghana School of Law where he was called to the Bar in 1981.
Lawyer Ayikoi Otoo worked Adamafio and Associates law firm in Acra and later established his own law firm Otoo and Associates Law Chamber at Laterbiokorshie in Accra after he left political office as attorney general. He served also as secretary and later president of the Greater Accra Bar Association. He also worked with the current President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the National Council of the Ghana Bar Association.
His career as a lawyer spanned over 2 decades. One of his groundbreaking cases has to do with the case of treason between the State and the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong in 2013. According to him, he won the case based on technicalities which many people of the time did not believe anyone could win.
On the achievements of government, he said contrary to claims being made by the opposition NDC that the current government has done little for Ghanaians, the government has performed and the chances of winning the elections is very high. He touted the government’s flagship programmes of Free SHS, 1D1F and Planting for Food and Jobs as some initiatives that will make the Nana Addo win a second term.
