GJA Calls For Swift Action Against Media Houses Showing Questionable Content
President of the Ghana Journalist Association Mr Roland Affail Monnie has lamented how some media practitioners are unprofessional in the discharge of their duties .
He complained that despite the training they go through they just throw professionalism to the wind when they start their practice. He then indicated the GJA ‘s resolve to put its feet down to ensure that they obey the laws regarding the profession.
The GJA president made this call when he paid a courtesy on some journalists. He said to the journalists, “sieve media content ,because content is everything.”
Also, he appealed to the National Media Commission and Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association to be given the mandate to punish and ensure media houses churn out good content.
This comes at a time the media is being heavily criticized for following the recent killing of a teenager at Kasoa by two teenagers for money rituals. The media comes in for its role in granting these spiritual men and women the space on their platforms to market their evil. The suspects involved alleged that they were lured by fetish priestess who is also in Police grips now, to kill for money rituals.
