Ghanaian youth march for development in FixTheCountry demo today
FixTheCountry demonstration is finally here today and thousands of Ghanaians are expected to join the protest in Accra
Many Ghanaians are expected to hit the streets today, August 4, 2021, to join the #FixTheCountry demonstration in Accra. The protest is seeking to put pressure on the government to find solutions to various issues confronting the country.
The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has pledged to provide maximum security during the #FixTheCountry protest slated for Wednesday, August 4. The Acting IGP, who took office on August 1, said the protesters will be entirely shepherded by the Police.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the Economic Fighters League after a tête-à-tête meeting between the conveners of the #FixTheCountry protest and the IGP.
Fighter-General, Hardi Yakubu, in the statement further revealed that Dr Dampare is poised to ensure a peaceful and impactful demonstration.
The Ghana Police Service in a statement said they have made adequate security arrangements for the “FIXTHECOUNTRY” demonstration, slated for today, Wednesday, 4th August 2021 at Accra.
Also, the Organisers have pledged that all participants will observe Covid-19 protocols.
The route for the demonstration is the stretch from the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle through the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue – Farisco Traffic Lights – TUC Traffic Intersection – EOCO – John Evans Atta Mills High Street – and to end at the Black Star Square. Please read more from the attached.
