Ghana is headed by a ‘confused old man’ – popular Social Commentator
Social commentator, Ivan Kyei Innocent has open fire on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for refusing to reshuffle or sack underperforming ministers despite the loud call from reasonable cross-section of Ghanaians demanding he cracks the whip.
The outspoken social commentator likened the demeanour of the president to that of a people being led by a ‘confused old man’ who has lost count on reality and the responsibilities of a president.
President Akufo-Addo during an interview on North Star radio said “If the output measures expectations, then I don’t have any strong reasons to heed the call,” in response to the numerous calls for a reshuffle of his ministers. He blamed the calls on the opposition NDC and jobless people who want jobs in his government. He said, “The calls come for all kinds of reasons; NDC wanting to destabilise the government is one. There are people who are also looking for jobs”.
However, in an interview with Agyenim-Boateng Adjaye on the Active Morning Show on Thursday, August 11, 2022, Ivan Kyei Innocent disclosed that the greatest mistake of Ghanaians in the nation’s political history is giving power to President Nana Akufo-Addo because he is not only sinking the future of the country but also destroying any possible opportunity to revive the economy.
He said the country is being headed by selfish, greedy, twisted minds and very misguided individuals who only think of their families and see the government as a family enterprise, depriving the masses of any benefits.
According to Ivan, the statement made by the president that his Ministers are performing better is nothing but an insult to the intelligence of the ordinary Ghanaian. He said going to IMF is a clear indication that Ghana’s economy has been crashed so if they were indeed performing well as the president wants everyone to believe then there was no need having a situation that prompted the need for a bailout plan.
“Ministers are doing better when the economy has grounded to a halt where we are chasing IMF for a deal,” he quipped.
He added that there’s nothing about the president which serves the interest of the country. According to him, the ministers at the various sectors are not performing, so it is the responsibility of the president to ensure either they are motivated to do better or change them for people who are capable.
President Akufo-Addo has not made any changes to his ministerial appointees except an enforced one which led to the sacking of Sarah Adwoa Safo. Her own even had to take nearly a year before the President gathered the courage to call the shots to axe the embattle Dome-Kwabenya MP from her role and replaced her with her Deputy at the Gender, Children and Social Protection ministry.
